Rook Island

Overview

Rook Island is a fictional map of an adventure island whose main attraction is its unique elephant safari in heart of the island. Adventurers also can participate in survival campaigns, trekking, harpooning, and many more activities. Use the map to navigate through all the hidden nooks and crannies of the island.

Process
 

Logo Design
I wanted to convey a sense of excitement and highlight the main attraction (elephant safari), while at the same time being professional. I used an elephant’s tusk and trunk to symbolize this and used a long, thick font for typography.
 

Map Design
Maps are unique kinds of documents that can convey huge amounts of spatial information quickly and accurately. I used various symbols, texts, and colours to achieve this, keeping this definition in mind. I used different colours to distinguish different landforms and icons for various points of attraction.

Interaction Design
I used PowerPoint Animation to enhance the user experience. I divided the maps into four main attractions, namely, water adventure, mountain sports, jungle adventure, and hotel/dining with the additional option to view all the attractions at once. Each icon is interactive and has a description of each location.
